Why Volunteer with United Way?

Types of volunteer Projects

Onsite Projects

Onsite projects take place at your own workplace or facility, making it easy for your entire team to participate without leaving the office. Your employees work together on a project that United Way coordinates and supports from start to finish. Past onsite projects have included meal packing, assembling literacy kits, school supply drives, and building financial literacy resources for community members in need.

Offsite Projects

Offsite projects take your team out into the community for a hands-on day of service at a local nonprofit or project site. These experiences give employees a firsthand look at the needs in our region while working alongside neighbors to make a visible difference. Past offsite projects have included community garden installations, Born Learning Trail builds, book swaps, VITA financial assistance programs, and disaster relief efforts.

A budget is required for most projects. Team Live United shirts can be arranged as part of your volunteerism package, giving your group a unified look on the day of service.

HOW TO REQUEST A PROJECT

Getting your team involved is a straightforward three-step process. United Way handles the coordination so your employees can focus on showing up and making an impact.

  1. Ready to get started? Complete the form and submit your project request at least 4 to 6 weeks before your preferred volunteer date.
  2. Assign a team leader to serve as the point of contact between your company and United Way.
  3. United Way coordinates everything from start to finish, so your team walks away with a meaningful and memorable experience.
