Food insecurity affects children across Northwest Louisiana every day. Through our Snack Pack Volunteering program, you can help make sure a child has something to eat when it matters most.

Improving the health of those living in Northwest Louisiana is one of United Way's core focus areas, and that work begins with making sure every child has enough to eat. Snack packs are one of the ways we support food-insecure families and ensure children in our community are receiving the nutrition they need to grow and thrive.
Unlike many volunteer opportunities, snack pack assembly is a year-round need, which means there is always a way to get involved no matter the season. Volunteers create infant and child snack packs by purchasing select items, decorating the bags, writing personal notes of encouragement, and assembling the final packages for distribution.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Once you submit your volunteer form, a member of the United Way team will reach out with everything you need to get started. You will receive guidance on which snack items to purchase, how to decorate and assemble the bags, and where and when to drop off your completed packs. The process is straightforward and flexible, designed to fit into your schedule without feeling overwhelming. From your first form submission to your final drop-off, United Way is here to support you.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
- Commit to 30 volunteer hours and assemble a minimum of 100 bags
- Purchase select snack items to include in each bag
- Write personal notes of encouragement to include with the snack packs
- Decorate the snack pack bags before assembly
